AÑSA Foundation Presents Professional Cello to 10-Year-Old Musician Alen Basen

Ten-year-old cellist Alen Basen from Almaty has received a professional concert cello crafted by Polish luthier Wojciech Topa as a gift from AÑSA Foundation. The presentation ceremony took place at the Kulyash Baiseitova Boarding School, where the young musician studies.
The cello was provided as part of the Foundation’s long-term support programme for Alen. Wojciech Topa’s instruments are valued by professional musicians for their rich tone and strong projection. The new cello will allow the young performer to further develop his performance technique, master more challenging repertoire, and prepare for concert performances.
In addition to the instrument, the programme includes a named scholarship that Alen will receive until he reaches adulthood. This long-term support will enable him to focus on his studies and further develop his performance skills.
AÑSA Foundation also presented KZT 1 million to Alen’s teacher, Bakhytzhan Zhanturganov.
Alen Basen is the great-grandson of Gauhar Akhmetovna Kunaeva, the younger sister of Dinmukhamed Kunaev. Today, the young musician is building his own artistic path, taking part in national and international competitions.
At the 37th International Music Competition Rovere d’Oro in Italy, Alen won the First Absolute Prize, receiving the maximum score of 100 out of 100 in the Young Talents category. In 2026, he also won the Grand Prix at the Republican Performing Arts Olympiad in Kazakhstan. A year earlier, he took first place at the Suoni di Venezia competition in Venice and second place at the Astana Sounds International Junior Competition.
