200 Families in Atbasar Receive Keys to New Apartments Funded by the AÑSA Foundation

The Akmola Region has taken the lead in Kazakhstan by swiftly addressing the housing needs of those affected by the massive spring floods of 2024.

On August 29, Regional Akim Marat Akhmetzhanov handed over keys to new apartments to 200 families in Atbasar. These families either lost their homes to the floods or were living in high-risk "red" zones, where flooding is a constant threat. The construction of these new homes was funded by the AÑSA Foundation.

Two 100-unit apartment buildings have been fully completed and are ready for occupancy, with white-painted walls, linoleum flooring, and installed plumbing fixtures. All that remains is to bring the furniture and people can move in. The developer has also committed to addressing any issues that may arise for the new homeowners.

As promised, a children's playground with slides and swings, as well as a football field, has been set up in the courtyard.

In his remarks to the new homeowners, Akmola Region Akim Marat Akhmetzhanov said, “The Zhabay River has repeatedly flooded large areas over the years. Some of those affected have been waiting for relief since a flood 20 years ago. That’s why these new apartments are being provided not only to those impacted this year but also to those whose homes were in the high-risk 'red' zones. The completion of these two 100-unit buildings was made possible thanks to the generous support of the AÑSA Foundation. We are deeply grateful.”

It should be noted that the AÑSA Foundation allocated 20.4 billion tenge to assist those affected by the floods in the North Kazakhstan and Akmola regions. The funds were used not only for the construction of new homes but also to help families purchase homes on the secondary market, for those who did not want to wait for new construction to be completed. In the Akmola Region alone, 128 families benefited from this assistance, with the AÑSA Foundation providing 5 billion tenge for these purchases.
