Business Consolidation for Flood Victim Assistance

In April 2024, Deputy Prime Minister Kanat Bozumbayev, Vyacheslav Kim, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Kaspi.kz, Eduard Ogai, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Kazakhmys Holding, and Eldar Mamedov, Chairman of the Board of KAZ Minerals Management, visited the North Kazakhstan region. The purpose of the visit was to assess the progress of the restoration works and meet with the local residents affected by the floods.

Since the beginning of the floods, 3,898 homes in the region have been flooded, and 6,597 country houses in the suburban area have been severely damaged. According to the regional administration, about 40% of the flooded homes may be unfit for further habitation.

During the visit, Vyacheslav Kim, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Kaspi.kz, expressed his concern about the situation:

«This is the first time such a situation has occurred in our country. I have seen it with my own eyes – it is a grim, disastrous tragedy. No one should remain indifferent or blind to the cause. United with the government, we will do everything in our strength to change life here for the better.»

Vyacheslav Kim and Mikhail Lomtadze, co-founders of Kaspi.kz, allocated 20 billion tenge to assist those affected in the North Kazakhstan and Akmola regions.

Commenting on the flood situation in the country, Mikhail Lomtadze noted:

«In the affected regions live our dear customers, partners, our employees. We have been in constant contact with them from the first days of the floods and are well aware of the situation. We immediately organized a fundraising campaign in the Kaspi.kz mobile app and allocated funds to the Biz Birgemiz fund for the purchase of rescue equipment, ammunition, fuel, and other first aid. Unfortunately, the situation remains dire in many regions. We consider it our civic duty to support the president's initiative and be useful to the country in this difficult moment.»

In turn, Vyacheslav Kim emphasized:

«Along with the entire country, we empathize with the people who have been left homeless. Thousands of families have been evacuated, and it is unknown when they will be able to return to their homes. In some localities, the water continues to rise. This disaster leaves no one indifferent. The state, businesses, our citizens are doing everything possible to restore life in the affected regions as soon as possible. We also want to support the head of state's call for assistance to the victims and direct 20 billion tenge to combat the consequences of the floods.»

Earlier, Kaspi.kz had gradually transferred 700 million tenge to the Biz Birgemiz Qazaqstan Public Fund for road repairs, operation of rescue helicopters, purchase of generators, pumps, inflatable boats, and medicines.

Also, at the end of March, the Kaspi team organized an online service in the Kaspi.kz app, allowing every Kazakhstani to donate to the Biz Birgemiz Qazaqstan fund to assist the affected.

Furthermore, Vyacheslav Kim financed the construction of a 5-story residential building in the Akmola region and allocated funds for the restoration of infrastructure in the affected localities.
